What is the coefficient of friction of a cricket ball? I'm not sure if this makes a difference, but I am interested in the coefficient of friction between a cricket ball and the air, not the cricket ball and a cricket pitch. I'm not sure if this makes a difference, but I am interested in the coefficient of friction between a cricket ball and the air, not the cricket ball and a cricket pitch. If what Jose says is correct, then what would be the force of air resistance?
Cricket Ball? What is the difference between a 2 piece ball and a 4 piece ball and which is better
Could you tell me more about the following cricket ball? It has the hairy, foamy texture of a tennis ball and is the same size but it's heavier and has a lower bounce. It is dark red to maroon in colour. It is used for cricket training especially [but not exclusively] for children. I hear people calling it a slash ball but I don't know if that's just a slang. Do you know the ball I'm talking about?
do you think world cricket should use a universal cricket ball? in the west indies they changed from using a duke ball to a kookabura, the ball does less and becomes softer easier making for a more boring batter friendly cricket. everyone should use a hard duke ball in order to even up the battle between bat and ball, your thoughts?
Why does a white cricket ball swing more than a red cricket ball? I have posted this question earlier but did not get satisfactory answers... The balls are of same dimensions...texture...etc....And I don't follow cricket that enthusiastically...so I don't know about the structural differences between a white and a red ball! The one hint provided is that...it has something to do with Bernoulli's Theorem! Thanks! @ Mock Turtle.. On one hand...you say its because of Bernoulli's Theorem...and then you say...its the roughness and the shine??
Who is the hardest hitter of the damn cricket ball - Dhoni or Symonds ? I know Hayden & Gayle are also there but boy! these two guys hit it like a rocket. I saw in the last match, Dhoni sent the ball to the boundary in just 2.66 seconds. Without any doubt, Dhoni & Symonds are the two must hard hitting batsmen in world cricket today. It's hard to choose bewtween the two so i will let you decide who is the hardest hitter The straight boundary at sector 16 stadium is about 76m (according to a cricket commentator) which is quite big. Dhoni & Symond's hits were flying to the boundary in no time. Dhoni hits at nearly 30 meters per second which is damn quick Dear Poisonivy, i don't think that Dhoni is anything less than Symonds in the batting department. Yes overall,Symonds is more valuable because of his bowling abilities but Dhoni can match any hitter in the batting department. I have seen him scoring runs against good bowling line ups. Symonds & Dhoni are very much like each other. Their style of batting is different but it 'WORKS' almost everytime

Is a cricket ball harder or softer than a cricket bat? Is a cricket ball harder than a cricket bat? My son asked several people this question and they were all "stumped" as they are both quite hard. And we wonder how one can tell which is really harder; would you try hammering a nail into a bat then a ball for example?
Have problems hitting the cricket ball off the square? I'm a 18 year old lad who has struggled to come to terms with 1st XI Club Cricket. I can survive but I have problems hitting the ball off the square. Techically, I'm good and I have a very good bat given to me by a sponsor. I have no problems against weaker sides and attacks, just first team cricket.
How can I loft the cricket ball more when I hit it? I play as a an all-rounder. I'm not the best power hitter. I'm happy with my defense. But when it comes to scoring boundaries, I have to depend on luck. Is there any trick to loft the ball beside sheer power?
Why does a cricket ball swing more in overcast conditions? I've read a few articles on the physics of swing in terms of creating a pressure differential on either side of the ball by causing turbulent airflow on one side using the seam or shining the ball etc... What I don't understand is why the ball starts swings more on a cloudy English day than on a sunny one.
How much is this cricket ball worth? I picked it up at the first ever day night game at Lords, the home of cricket... It was hit for a 4 and i caught it... How does the "Saliva Application" on Cricket Ball Help?Is there no other way? This action by Bowlers, all Fielders except Wicket Keeper seems unhygienic.Sri Santh was affected by H1N1.In case he comes back to play will others do this? Camera men too are very smart in catching players' actions while spitting, nose and tooth related bad habits etc: The match is watched by millions of children and they may take the cue from their heroes.
Can I use baseballs as a cricket ball replacement? There are no cricket stores anywhere near me so I was wondering if I could just use a baseball for recreational play. i know that cricket balls have a different seam but I'm not a pro or anything. I'll tape balls but they seem kinda light. Oh and I checked and baseballs and cricket balls are the same weight but the seams are different and the stuff inside is probably different too. thanks for all the help.
