  1. my dog does the SAME...LOL STRING IN HER BUTT. but my puppyz fine.. so i gess not!! go on the internet.. if u must know.
  2. depending on size and age of your dog, and amount ingested and size of swallowed pieces, it can become an intestinal obstruction. You need to stop letting her destroy and ingest them. get her a Kong ball or horse ball instead (available at tack shops).
  3. A good friend of mine just through this with their med sized dog! It chewed up a tennis ball and it caused a partial bowel obstruction! So yes I think it would be something you should worry about! They do make solid balls for dogs. Tennis balls are cheap but not when you have to pay to have bowel obstruction removal surgery! I got these for my Golden's! They love them! http://www.planetdog.com/ProductInfo.aspx?productid=WOOF_FETCH_BALL And these! http://www.planetdog.com/ProductInfo.aspx?productid=TENNIS%203PK ADD: tom a golf ball???? Have a good Easter!
  4. My dog does that to most of his tennis balls too. I had to buy him industrial strength ones which are super strong and can be found at petsmart. I don't think that eating bits of a tennis ball will hurt her, it just isn't good for her.
  5. There is a huge difference between "tennis balls". When you buy cheap ones, they will be destroyed right away. More expensive will last for long time. I don't allow my girl to chew on the "fur" since I have no idea where it came from.
  6. You could try to shave the tennis balls, but otherwise, go to the pet store and get an actual pet ball.
  7. just go by a rubber pet ball.
  8. Just don't think that a golf ball would be a good alternative. A dog CAN swallow one, a dog CAN NOT pass one. Edit Golden Gal One of our pups has had surgery three times now to remove golf balls, his owner lives next to a golf course. They finally had to erect a huge screen to keep the balls out of their yard.
  9. Simple. Don't buy tennis balls.
  10. One of my dogs had an intestinal blockage from swallowing a piece of a tennis ball. It was about 1"x2" in size. The surgery to remove it cost me $650. That was 7 years ago and the dog recovered and ran lead on my sled team for many miles. If the dog is just pulling the fuzz off the tennis balls I don't think it will be much of a problem but if she is eating pieces of the rubber it could be very expensive. I never let my dogs play with tennis balls unsupervised. As soon as they pop the ball it is taken away and replaced with a new one.
  11. Yes, this can hurt the dog. It's not digestible, and could become stuck and cause an impaction. It could also get stuck in the throat, and cause her to choke to death. Do NOT let her chew up tennis balls. If you don't believe me, call your own vet on Monday and ask. Get the dog a black Kong Toy. They are more durable than the red ones.
